The site includes a compendium of common medicinal herbs (see "Herbal Index"), as well as interesting articles ("Chinese Herbs," "Herbal Therapies," "Acupuncture," and "Discussing Alternative Medicine"). The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland constitute the federal government's primary committment to (and sponsorship of) medical and health research in the United States. NIH's National Center for Complementary & Alternative Medicine is both a supporter and clearinghouse for research into Traditional Chinese Medicine (as well as the use and effectiveness of medicinal herbs).
